  • What makes Sparx educational? - Sparx expands upon learning objectives used in Ontario's curriculum and integrates it within popular and fun acting activities.  The lessons are structured strategically by using similar teaching methods used in today's classrooms. Each class will have specific learning goals for the kids to achieve and the content in each lesson will support that.


  •  What educational skills will they learn? - The list is endless! But here are a few:

             - Social skills such as self-empowerment and increased emotional intelligence

               - To experience and appreciate perspectives of people from different backgrounds

                  (Note:  Kids will be provided with activities relating to social issues such as bullying, anxiety, inclusiveness and public safety.)

                - Increased confidence with public speaking and presentation skills

               - Apply problem solving skills and learn how to take an innovative approach to a challenge

               - Enhanced Language Art skills (reading, creating and interpreting written material)

               - How to create, write and act out multiple  stories & characters

  • What acting skills will they learn? 

              - Script and line memorization

              - Improvisation

              - Creative development and imagination

              - Writing scripts, stories and creating multiple characters

              - Manipulate  elements and forms to convey and express feelings, thoughts and ideas

              - How to feel confident, self-assured and powerful

              - Experience acting out a wide range of characters

  • Where are the classes located? We have a few different locations in Toronto!  Firstly, we have our  Bloor West Village location at  356 Windermere Ave at Windermere United Church near Bloor and Jane Street.  Secondly, we have  our Midtown location at 240 Manor Road East at Manor Road United Church close  to Eglinton and Mt.Pleasant Ave.  Thirdly, we offer Virtual courses which of course means you can join us from the comfort and safety of your own home! Different programs have different locations so please make sure you read your course or camp description before signing up!  **Additionally, we LOVE booking and making connections with schools and group organizations for US  to come in and run multi-week  Educational Acting programs at YOUR child's school or organization location! Reach out to us for more details  if you think your school or group organization would be interested!**


  • Where do I drop off my child and is there parking available? -We require a parent or guardian to always be present for drop offs as mandatory COVID screenings  will take place.  A detailed email will  be sent a few days before your program start date that  will provide your class drop off details. PARKING: The drop-off for Windermere Church will be on Mayfield Ave (see above). There is also 1- hour parking on Mayfield or you may park on Windermere Ave. Parking options for  Manor Road Church in Midtown  are  the surrounding roads  with timed free-street parking or a Green-P Parking Garage across Mt.Pleasant  beside the Dollarama. 


  • What time do classes begin? -  Our program class times vary.  Each time is listed when you click your selected class graphic located on our 'CLASSES' page.  

  • What ages are allowed? - For our Full Day Summer Camps, we take SK students for the 2021/2022 school year up to grade 7 and Afternoon Only Summer Camps we will accept JK.  Generally, for all other courses (please contact us if you are unsure), as a general guideline, we accept Junior Kindergarten (4/5 years old) to Grade 6 (11/12 years old).  However, we do leave it up to the parent if a child is in  Grade 7/8 to sign up if they wish.  We invite JK-Grade 7/8  to try a drop-in class to see if they are a good fit!  

  • How many students are in each class? -  Due to current  COVID provincial regulations, we  allow 10 people per group (including instructors). 

  • My children has allergies and/or medical conditions. Who do I inform?- When you are selecting your class please ensure that you note this information in the application box located in the upper right corner. Or email us at  info@sparxstudiotacting.com


  • Are there places I can go during the class? - Due to COVID, we do not allow anyone except registered students to enter the facilities.  Feel free to explore Bloor West Village during the class!  There are many cafés, restaurants and stores located just two short blocks north of the church on Bloor St. W.  As well, High Park is just a 5-minute drive east from Windermere United Church on Bloor St. West!  For Midtown Classes, there is a park directly beside Manor Road and Mt.Pleasant and Eglinton nearby with many food shops and cafes. 


  • Can I sign up more than once? - We encourage our students to return to classes at Sparx Studio!  We specialize in teaching kids social-emotional and acting skills, which both require continuous training and practice for noticeable results.  Not to mention, we have a vast amount of content that we teach. Therefore, our students will benefit from taking part in various programs throughout their Sparx journey, where they will learn new skills and build upon important lessons they have previously learned. Additionally, the dynamic of the groups vary for every new program and the students get to create, rehearse and perform a new, original play each time! 

  • P.S. Our Sparx regulars  love coming back and say that each time is a different experience (and they still love playing their favourite games!). Furthermore, our instructors are trained to challenge each returning student in order to further progress your little Sparky! 


  • Who are the teachers? -Please click on our 'TEAM’ page to read about us!​ 


  • Does my child need to have acting experience? - We accept all children at any experience level!  If you have additional concerns about your child and/or think they need extra assistance in a group setting, please contact us prior to signing up and we will do our best to accommodate them!     * For our In-Person 'Big Sparx' courses, we recommend that you sign up if your child has completed another Sparx course, are in Grade 3 or older, or if they already have some previous acting experience.


  • How do I sign up and pay? - Please click above on ' CLASSES’ and select the program, location and date(s) you would like to sign up for. You have the option of purchasing multiple classes at once and paying one total payment online with a credit or debit card. 


  • What is the deadline to signup? -We encourage you to apply as soon as possible to ensure your child a spot. However, our general deadline for classes will be 10 days prior to the first day of the selected class.


  • Is there a refund policy? -

  • Sparx offers a generous and consistent refund and course credit policy. We know that things can change and we want to be fair to you while protecting our small business:

  • - If we are notified 10 days or more before the first class: We will happily either fully refund your fees minus a 7.5% processing fee OR fully credit your payment towards a future program within the next 12 months!

  • - If you notify us within 9 to 4 days before the first class: At this point we have little chance of booking another student after reserving this space for you! We are happy to split your payment with you and refund you 50% of your fees. We are also happy, if you choose, to keep 75% of your payment and credit it towards a future program within the next 12 months!

  • - Notification within 72 hours before a course begins: This is very hard on our small business. But we still want to help! We will refund you 33% of your fees. We are also happy, if you choose, to keep your payment and credit 50% of it towards a future program within the next 12 months!

  • *Please note that anything COVID related is not an exemption to this policy. We thank you for your understanding. 

  • -Promo Codes, Discounts & Special Sales: Customers can use these at the time of their current registration as long as it is still within the valid usage dates and for the correctly advertised product. Sparx Studio is not responsible nor will refund customers forgetting or missing out on a discount, promo or sale. 

  • What happens if the course is cancelled because of COVID-19? - If Sparx Studio, our location facility or the City of Toronto decides to not allow in-person classes due to COVID-19, Sparx will offer a discounted virtual course in its place. If the customer chooses to opt out of the virtual program, they can choose between a full credit with no expiry date or a refund minus a 7.5% processing and admin fee.  

  • After paying, it said you would provide free shipping. What should I expect? - A confirmation email and a spot for you in one of our classes! :) 


  • How do I contact Sparx Studio? - Please feel free to email us anytime at info@sparxstudioacting.com  or call us during our business hours (9:00 am to 5:00 pm) at 437-925-8559.

  • What COVID policies do you have in place?  -

  • - All Sparx instructors have received extra, in-depth COVID-19 response training in order to follow up to date provincial health and safety rules for childcare.

  • - A max of 10 will be allowed in one group (including instructor(s)) as per provincial regulations.

  • -All families will be required to sign a COVID waiver before the start of their program.

  • - All students will be screened for symptoms of COVID-19 and asked questions about how they feel before entering every day. If your child or anyone else in your household feels unwell, we will ask you to go home. If you're already feeling unwell the morning of your class, please stay home and email us before your class to let us know you are unable to make it; however as much advance notice as possible is preferred (i.e. if you feel unwell the day before, then please email us then). 

  • - All students will be encouraged to stay socially distant as best as they can. We fully understand that this is difficult for children and will always regulate this in a realistic and gentle manner.

  • -All children will be asked to wear masks inside but not during active games/activities & safely socially distant or outside. (as per government regulations). 

  • - The classroom and bathrooms will be wiped down before, during and after each day. 

  • - Children will take multiple trips to the bathroom throughout the day to thoroughly wash their hands.

  • - We will have plenty of hand sanitizer and bacterial cleaning spray on hand.

  • - We will have a response plan if anybody shows symptoms of COVID-19 or if we think they have been exposed.

  • - Daily attendance will be recorded to track any contact.

  • - All drop-offs and pick-ups will be made outside of the building. No parents or visitors will be allowed inside. 

  • - Our final 'Sparx Showcase' (the play they will write and perform on the last day) will be performed outside and everyone will practice social distancing. 

  • - We have removed the majority of our toys and game equipment that could easily spread germs.

  • - Any equipment that we do give the kids (i.e. colouring pencils) will be sanitized and distributed by an instructor before and after use.

  • - All Sparx lessons and activities have been modified to work (and still be fun!) with all of these changes.
